Natural, Botanical, Upcycle, Re-Purpose, Unique, Creative,
Therapy, & Artistic, are just a few of the words to describe
Metal 'N Thread art...

by Renee Holwegner

My interest in art for expression and therapy grew after the death of our oldest daughter, Shayla, from a rare bone cancer. It became important to have something that gave me such joy. I have donated many of my pieces to non-profit organizations, none more worthy than our very own Shayla Fund. The Fund gives scholarships to kids in health crisis.
100% of Junque...it's Frenchlish fer junk and my Metal 'N Thread profits this year go back to the Shayla Fund to help kids like my daughter during their journey with a life-threatening illness.
I have always enjoyed gardening and loved to recycle.  Metal has always appealed to me. I started with recycling old copper plumbing pieces because I love how it ages in my garden. My husband bought me the best anniversary present a few years ago... no diamonds for this girl.  No, I prefer power tools-a welder fit for a queen. Junque was born then slowly sprouted a new branch, Metal 'N Thread.

The pictures included here represent just a few of the functional yard art pieces I create.  Because I use and re-use what's available at the time, the actual finished pieces will be different than pictured.
That also means they are each unique... one of a kind... and yours to enjoy.   Find out...

Silk fabric, whether new
or recycled vintage, is perfect
to receive the imprints and colors
 of Nature.
It is a precise
process to harness nature
for a beautiful result.
The process involves harvesting plants, leaves &
at just the right time, designing a pattern, and steam.
Maybe a little bit more to it, but look at the beautiful result!
